My Loxone installer disappeared, what now?

The company or person who set up your Loxone system has stopped answering, closed, or moved on, and you are left with a working home but no one who understands it.

Quick answer

Do not factory reset anything. First confirm the installer is truly unreachable, then locate your admin credentials and export a config backup before you change a single setting.

Losing your Loxone installer is stressful, but your home keeps running, and you have more options than it feels like right now. The key is to move calmly and in the right order: confirm the situation, secure access, back up, document, then find support. Open any step below for exactly what to do, and what to avoid.

Step by step

Confirm you have really lost access
  1. 1

Email and call the installer, then wait a full business week. Keep a copy of what you sent in case you need it later.

  2. 2

Check whether the company still exists. Search their business name and look at their website, Google Business Profile, and any Loxone partner listing.

  3. 3

Ask whoever hired them (your builder, a previous homeowner, your property manager) if they have newer contact details.

  4. 4

Look through your email for the original handover: setup notes, invoices, or a credentials sheet often arrived at project completion.

Before assuming the worst, rule out a slow reply or a changed phone number. Installers get busy, change email addresses, or rebrand.

Grixx does not depend on your original installer being reachable. It connects to your Miniserver directly, so support continues even when the person who built the system is long gone.

Recover admin credentials without a destructive reset
  1. 1

Search your records for a credentials handover: many installers leave a printed or PDF sheet with the admin username and password.

  2. 2

Check the Loxone app under the Miniserver settings to see which user you are currently signed in as. An everyday user account cannot make config changes.

  3. 3

If you have my.loxone.com access, sign in there to see which Miniservers are linked to that account. This is a separate account from the Miniserver's own admin login.

  4. 4

If you locate the admin login, sign in and change the password to something you control, then store it in a password manager.

Loxone app users are not the same as the Miniserver admin account. You need the admin credentials to make configuration changes. A factory reset is not a password recovery tool: it erases the whole configuration.

Grixx can tell you what it can and cannot see with the access you currently have, so you know whether you are truly locked out or just signed in as a limited user before anyone talks about a reset.

Back up before you touch anything
  1. 1

Open the Miniserver web interface in a browser using its local IP address or Loxone Cloud DNS.

  2. 2

Go to the backup or diagnostics section and export the current configuration file to your computer.

  3. 3

Save at least two copies: one on your computer and one in cloud storage you control, not the installer's.

  4. 4

Label the file with the date so you always know which backup is the most recent.

The single most important step. A current backup means that even a worst-case mistake or hardware failure can be reversed.

Grixx tracks your backup status and warns you when it has been too long since the last one, so you are never one dead SD card away from losing a system nobody else has a copy of.

Document the system so any new pro can help fast
  1. 1

Note the Miniserver name, serial number, and current firmware version from the app or web interface.

  2. 2

List the rooms and the main functions in each: lighting, blinds, climate, audio, access.

  3. 3

Photograph the Miniserver and any extensions in the enclosure, plus any labels, but do not open panels or touch wiring.

  4. 4

Write down what works, what does not, and anything you wish behaved differently.

A well-documented system is faster and cheaper for the next person to support. You can gather most of this from the app and web interface yourself.

Grixx reads your live configuration and can summarize what the system actually contains in plain English, which is often more accurate than notes pieced together from memory.

Find ongoing support
  1. 1

For physical work (new devices, wiring, hardware faults), find a certified Loxone integrator in your area and share your documentation and backup.

  2. 2

For everyday changes (scenes, schedules, small tweaks) and 24/7 monitoring, a service like LoxPilot fills the gap between big installer visits.

  3. 3

Get admin access sorted first. No support option can help much if nobody can log in.

  4. 4

Keep your backup and documentation somewhere you control so you are never dependent on one company again.

You have two realistic paths: hire a new certified integrator, or use a homeowner support service for day-to-day changes and monitoring.

LoxPilot pairs Grixx AI with human escalation from Grizzly Tec, so routine changes happen instantly by chat and a real certified person steps in when something genuinely needs hands-on help.

When to call a licensed pro

If you cannot find the admin username and password and none of the recovery paths work, do not attempt a factory reset. A reset wipes the programming your installer built and there is no undo without a saved backup. Bring in a certified Loxone integrator who can attempt credential recovery and, worst case, rebuild from the Miniserver's stored configuration. Anything involving wiring, extensions inside the electrical panel, or the power supply is also a licensed pro job.

Why LoxPilot

Grixx reads your live Miniserver config in plain text, so you can understand and adjust a system you did not build without waiting on an installer who may never call back.

Frequently asked questions

Can I just factory reset the Miniserver to get back in?

No, and this is the most common expensive mistake. A factory reset wipes the entire configuration your installer built, and without a saved backup that programming is gone. Treat a reset as a last resort handled by a professional, never as a way to recover a password.

Is the Loxone app login the same as the admin login?

Not necessarily. The Loxone app can be signed in with a limited everyday user, while configuration changes require the Miniserver admin account. There is also a separate my.loxone.com account. Confirm which one you actually have before assuming you are locked out.

Loxone won't give me support directly. Why?

Loxone sells through certified partners and does not offer direct tech support to homeowners. When your installer disappears, you fall into a gap. That gap is exactly what a homeowner support service like LoxPilot is built to cover.

What should I do first, right now?

Export a configuration backup and store it somewhere you control. Everything else, from finding a new integrator to changing settings, is safer once you have a current backup in hand.
